Pender Alliance Council

Pender County Christian Services (PCCS) and Willard Outreach Organization (WOO) have teamed up to better serve Pender County families in need. The Pender Alliance Council— Resource Center will be housed at the current Willard Outreach Community Center. New partnership programs will include food security, youth programs, disaster relief, and other human services.

Both organizations will continue to operate independently as well. The PCCS food distribution programs will move to Willard in Spring 2024, while the thrift store and some administrative offices will remain at the current Fremont Street location in Burgaw. The PAC will combine efforts to upgrade the historic school building that will house the resource center. The group will expand food distribution, increase educational outreach throughout the county, offer workforce training, and provide disaster and crisis relief. The Council will look add new community partners to maximize the service scope.

The Pender Alliance Council will be governed by a joint board including PCCS and WOO board members and led by the Executive Directors of both organizations. This joint board held its first meeting on August 10 to elect officers, enact mission and vision statements, and establish short- and long-term goals.

Current PCCS and WOO clients will receive information about the transition, and should expect continued, more efficient services.
